My second game of Easter Monday was in Division 5 South of the Mid Sussex League for Fletching Reserves v Fairfield Reserves.
Fletching Recreation Ground is a glorious place to watch football, and with the sun coming out after a morning of snow, it almost felt like summer… Almost.
Both teams had chances to win the game, but Fletching took theirs – though the game was pretty low scoring; almost 70 goals had been scored in Fletching’s 11 league games so far this season.
Fletching’s first came from the penalty spot mid-way through the second half, and their second was a neat finish not long after. Playing three games in two days after four months off was starting to take its toll, and Fairfield had a couple of chances towards the end to get back into the game, but they were a bit too wasteful in front of goal.
